Seed Cycling is a natural remedy to balance sex hormones at any time of women life.
During reproductive years , most women produce adequate levels of hormones to support a healthy cycle. However, certain health conditions, such as PCOS and hypothyroidism, as well as over-exercising and being under- or overweight, can lead to a hormonal imbalance. Seed cycling will balance hormones by regulating the hormone estrogen in the first half of your menstrual cycle and the hormone progesterone in the second half.
In perimenopause , seed cycling minimises the impact of hormone fluctuations, particularly by reducing hot flushes and mood swing, and improving energy levels and sleep quality.
In menopause , Seed cycling can also be used by starting on any day and following the same 2-week rotation plan. The nutrients found in seeds, such as phytoestrogens and essential fatty acids, alleviate certain menopause symptoms like mood changes, hot flashes, and vaginal dryness.

How to seed cycle
During reproductive years and perimenopause , the seeds are rotated based on the follicular and luteal phases . The follicular phase of your cycle starts with “Day 1,” which is the first day of your menstrual cycle and the day that you begin to bleed. The luteal phase begins with ovulation and extends to menses.
Follicular Phase: Day 1 to Day 14, or until ovulation: 1 tablespoon each freshly ground raw flax seeds and pumpkin seeds daily.
Luteal Phase: From Day 15 (about) to 28, or until menses: 1 tablespoon each freshly ground raw sunflower and sesame seeds daily.
In menopause , Seed cycling can also be used by starting on any day and following the same 2-week rotation plan.
About the seeds
To seed cycle, you need to supplement with four different seeds: flax, pumpkin, sunflower, and sesame.
FLAX SEEDS - Flax is rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids. The seeds contain estrogenic-like properties that encourage healthy oestrogen production, along with lignans that simultaneously block excess oestrogen from being produced.
PUMPKIN SEEDS - Pumpkin seeds are rich in omega 6 and zinc; two nutrients that support our sex hormones and encourage reproduction.
SUNFLOWER SEEDS - Sunflower is an excellent source of vitamin e and selenium. The seeds contain lignans that mimic and support progesterone production.
SESAME SEEDS - Sesame is high in vitamin e, and contains the same hormone-balancing lignans as flax. The seeds encourage fertility and support progesterone balance.
You can do seed cycling through different recipes ( budwig , seed cycling balls etc…) by incorporating flax seeds , pumpkin seeds , sunflower seeds and sesame seeds according to the seed cycling process .
